Accessibility guidelines
This site tries to be W3C WCAG compliant to at least Priority 2.
Links
This site differentiates between local and offsite links.
- All links have pop-up captions (titles) that explain what the link does.
- For sighted users, we also underline links when you place the cursor on them.
- Menu items and links to other parts of the web-site are preceded by a "right-pointing double angle quotation mark" or guillemet.
- Links to resources in the EIP library and pages on other sites open in a new window. The pop-up caption tells you when this is going to happen.
- We believe that this is more helpful to those with accessibility requirements than simply jumping to a different web-site in the same window. We would welcome your views.
- For sighted users, these links are highlighted with a box, as shown in the example below.
Colour-blindness
This site should remain highly legible for people with any of the three major types of colour-blindness.

Access Keys
The site uses short-cuts (access keys) to help you navigate within the page.
- Access Key 0 (Alt-0) takes you to the log-in box. Type Alt-0, then your user-id, tab, your password and then the Enter key and you are logged-in.
- Access Key 1 takes you to the form for requesting a new password - type Alt-1, your email address and Enter.
- Access Key 2 helps you locate forms on the page - if there is one, Alt-2 positions you in the first field of the form.
- Access Key 3 takes you to the first active item in the main navigation menu. This will be a link to the home page (unless you are already on the home page).
- More complex page structures may offer additional access keys.
Moving within forms and the body of the page
The tab key moves the input focus from one link or form field to the next, as if you were selecting these with a mouse. The page is arranged so that links and forms within the main body of the page can be accessed before items in the navigation panel.
All fields in forms and all links on the page have captions that pop-up when you position the pointer on them and are compatible with web-page readers.
