Welcome to the EiP web site

EiP (Exchanging Information with the Public) is a cross-service group of UK local authority officers working together to develop modern approaches to service delivery with an emphasis on customer focus.

EiP Group members believe that a customer focused council is more able to become an effective council, achieving its core purposes economically and efficiently. Customer focus as a business driver also has the potential to facilitate community development and internal change.

EiP Group Customer Focus Framework

The EiP Group's Customer Focus Framework effectively synthesises good practice from the local authority community and brings together work done by EiP members over the last two years.

This book will help anyone working on performance improvement and will help anyone working on developing front line services.

This is not just 'another toolkit'. It gives you an oversight at the strategic level as well as nitty gritty help for those tasked with implementation. It is as much about service development as it is about front line improvement.

It is particularly important in providing insight into customer focus for anyone whose responsibility bridges the disciplines of customer services and policy/strategy and has the vision to bring them together.

The Framework brings together best practice in front line development and sharing with partnerships and organisational development in a single, highly accessible document. It shows how authorities may achieve the kind of outcomes expected in LAA and MAA by genuinely starting from the Customer

Editorial

Elaine Cash writes:When working with customer focus groups, CDW often ask the question ‘Which company represents good customer service in your mind?”’ The answers typically vary from large multinationals to small local businesses but the reasons are always much the same: ‘Because they treat me as an individual, make it easy to get in touch and deal with my request promptly and efficiently.’
